THE BEARDED LADY

The Bearded Lady is about finding your identity in God's love instead of the opinions of others. The world is quick to point out what makes us different, labeling us by our appearance, past, weaknesses, or scars. But Jesus never sees us as the crowd does.

Step right up. Feast your eyes, ladies and gentlemen. Nature's wonder. A marvel you won't believe.

The bearded lady. Seen by many, understood by none. Laced dress on under the stair. Spotlight heavy in the air. Mark me out for watching crowds. Fed their hunger, spoke me loud. Tried to make me fold and bow, but fire stayed deep inside me now. Words don't bend, looks don't win. Light lives deep under my skin. They sold my face for a dime, made bearded woman their punchline. Put my beard on display, called me strange in every way. He shaved my fear, drew Himself near, laid His hand on my beard and called me dear. Speak, go ahead, call me freak. God created all of me.

Rumors crawled like painted lies, sharp like knives behind their eyes. Every whisper named my beard, turned my face into their fear. But what they mocked and tried to claim became the place He spoke my name.

Laid my beard before my breath, counted every hair like debt. Pointed price and passed me by till Truth stood closer than they did. They mocked me, called me strange, the bearded woman steeped in shame. But You'll claim my name. Holy daughter, reclaim. I stepped right up and met their eyes. And I saw their eyes. And I saw their eyes. I stepped right up and met their eyes.

Nature's wonder, a marvel I couldn't hide. I filled their pockets with my face. I bought on cue and borrowed lace till Heaven broke the borrowed place and met me face to face. He shaved my fear, drew Himself near, laid His hand on my beard and called me dear.

Throughout history, the bearded lady was often displayed as an oddity, admired by some but misunderstood by most. Crowds paid to stare, laugh, and judge what they did not understand. Many people know that same feeling. We may not stand on a circus stage, but we have all experienced moments when we felt different, rejected, or defined by what others could see instead of who God created us to be.

Scripture: Psalm 139:13–14, Isaiah 43:1, 1 Samuel 16:7, John 8:1–11, Romans 8:1, Ephesians 2:10, 1 John 3:1

Father, thank You for creating me with purpose and loving me exactly as I am. Too often I have believed the labels others placed on me instead of the truth You speak over my life. Forgive me for allowing shame, rejection, and comparison to shape my identity more than Your Word. Help me see myself through Your eyes instead of the world's opinions.

Your Word says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14). You remind me that You look at the heart, not outward appearance. (1 Samuel 16:7). Thank You for calling me by name and making me Your own. (Isaiah 43:1). Help me rest in the confidence that I am loved, accepted, and chosen because of Jesus Christ.

When criticism comes, let Your truth be louder. When I feel different or misunderstood, remind me that You never make mistakes. Give me courage to walk confidently in the person You created me to be without seeking the approval of others. Let my life reflect Your grace and compassion toward those who also feel rejected or unseen.

Thank You for drawing near to me, removing my shame, and replacing it with hope. May I never hide from the purpose You have given me because of fear or insecurity. Instead, let me stand boldly as Your beloved child, knowing that my identity is forever secure in You.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The crowd studied every feature they could see, but Heaven saw the heart they never noticed. They measured my value by appearances, while God measured it by His love. Every whisper of rejection became quieter the moment He spoke my name.

I spent years hiding behind labels that were never mine to carry. Shame became a costume I wore until grace gently removed it. The One who formed me never asked me to become someone else. He simply invited me to believe what He had always known about me.

Then His hand reached where my fear had lived the longest. He did not pull away or turn His face. Instead, He drew near with kindness and reminded me that nothing about me surprised Him. What others mocked became the place where His compassion was revealed.

Now I no longer live for the applause of the crowd or the approval of strangers. I stand as God's beloved, confident that my Creator makes no mistakes. The world may remember the bearded lady, but Heaven remembers a daughter who was always called dear.
