Life was always flowing.

The question was never whether God would provide the water—
it was whether I would open my heart and let it flow through me.

Too often I tried to force what only surrender could release.

Then came a simple choice:
stop holding on,
step aside,
and let the living water move.

What filled my heart

In the beginning was the Word…

and the Word was with God…

and the Word was God…

Living water in the line…

turn it on.

Been running dry, I felt it

Tried to fix it, forced it

Held it tight, stayed closed off

Nothing moved, I was lost

Saw the handle, walked past

Thought it wouldn’t really last

One turn—everything changed

Now it’s moving through my veins

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—feel it go

Living water in my soul

Less of me—let it flow

Now it’s running through my soul

I kept trying on my own

Nothing moved, I felt alone

Saw the handle, didn’t turn

Took a while for me to learn

I was holding way too tight

Had to let it come to life

Stepped aside, let it go

Now I finally feel the flow

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—feel it go

Living water in my soul

Less of me—let it flow

Now it’s running through my soul

Light broke in—I couldn’t stop it

Tried to block it—couldn’t block it

Life showed up when I opened

All it took was one moment

Less of me—I step aside

Now the flow is running right

Less of me—open wide

Now it’s living deep inside

One turn…

one choice…

step back…

hear the voice…

(whisper)

let it flow…

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—let it flow

From my lips—overflow

Turn it on—I won’t fight

Now I’m walking in the light

Less of me—let it flow

Now it’s running through my soul

life in the line…

light in the flow…

turn it on.

Our Father who art in heaven,

Thank You for being the source of living water that never runs dry.

Forgive me for the times I tried to do everything in my own strength. Forgive me for holding on too tightly, staying closed off, and looking for life in places that could never satisfy my soul.

Jesus, You said that whoever believes in You would have rivers of living water flowing from within them (John 7:38). Help me to trust that Your Spirit is already at work within me. Teach me to stop striving and start abiding.

Lord, You promised that the water You give becomes a spring welling up to eternal life (John 4:14). Fill every dry place in my heart. Bring life where there has been weariness, hope where there has been discouragement, and peace where there has been struggle.

Help me to live the truth that You must increase and I must decrease (John 3:30). Let there be less of me and more of You. Open my heart so Your love, truth, and grace can flow freely through my life.

May what You pour into me overflow from my lips, my actions, and my daily walk. Let others see Your goodness through the life You are producing within me.

Thank You for being the source, the stream, and the sustainer of my soul. Thank You that Your living water never runs out.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Before the Measure

The Handle

I thought the drought was outside me,
hidden somewhere in the land,
so I chased every cloud I could find
while ignoring the handle in my hand.

I searched for streams in distant places,
looked for answers far away,
never knowing living water
was waiting for my yes that day.

Not a flood that forced the doorway,
not a wave that took control,
just a quiet invitation
standing at the edge of my soul.

The source was never running empty.
The river never lost its way.
I was only standing still,
afraid of what surrender might say.

But grace is patient with the thirsty.
Mercy does not rush the dry.
Love keeps waiting at the faucet
long before we ask it why.

Then one turn became a testimony.
One choice became a stream.
One moment opened everything
I thought was only a dream.

Now the water keeps on moving,
past the places fear once stood.
Not because I learned perfection,
but because the source is good.

And every drop still whispers softly,
through the places I once closed:

Life was never in my striving.

It was always in the flow.
